Ten Key exercises:

This one was taken from the Burroughs operating manual for a ten-key adding machine purchased in the late 1950’s.

Place the machine at a comfortable angle to your right. Sit erect and relaxed. Hold your right hand over the ten keys with the fingers slightly curved. Numerals 4,5, and 6constitute the “home-key” position. Place your fingers on the home-keys: index finger on 4; middle finger on 5; and ring finger on 6. Depress the keys one at a time, with firm staccato strokes. Do not look at the keys, learn them by touch. Proceed slowly. Do the drills in the exercise 1. This exercise will help you learn the home key position. Enter each amount just as you would write it, then depress the add bar. Depress the total key at the end of each problem.
